There is something unmistakable about a Slim Aarons photograph. A sense of effortless glamour. Sunlight suspended in time. A private world made briefly visible through the lens of someone who understood that luxury was never simply about wealth — it was about ease, beauty, wit, and the art of living well.
The Darkroom Society is pleased to announce the addition of fifteen new images to our growing catalogue of open and limited edition Slim Aarons prints from the Getty Images Gallery collection. This newest release — the first of two planned additions for 2026 — has been curated with intention, balancing fresh discoveries with enduring collector appeal.

Many of the newly released works were recently uncovered within Slim Aarons’ archive and offer a welcome expansion beyond some of his most widely recognized destinations. The collection travels from the warm terracotta tones of Marrakesh to the dazzling coastlines of Rio de Janeiro, revealing scenes that feel both deeply cinematic and remarkably intimate. These are photographs that widen the lens on Aarons’ world while remaining unmistakably his.
Among the early standouts are Snorkeling In Antigua and Dar Esselam, Marrakesh. In Snorkeling In Antigua, Aarons captures a moment of leisure suspended between sea and sky — playful, elegant, and impossibly transportive. Dar Esselam, Marrakesh offers something altogether different: a richly atmospheric portrait of place, layered with texture, heat, and quiet sophistication. The response to both images has already been exceptional, and we anticipate strong interest from collectors.

The release is rounded out with several classic European scenes, including a remarkable late-1940s black-and-white photograph captured behind the scenes on the Roman set of director William Dieterle’s drama September Affair. The image carries a distinctly different mood from Aarons’ later resort-era photographs — intimate, cinematic, and filled with the quiet glamour of postwar Italy. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the breadth of Aarons’ career and eye.

What makes this particular release especially compelling is its balance. There are sun-soaked escapes and refined interiors, candid moments and composed tableaux, familiar glamour and entirely new discoveries. Together, the fifteen images deepen the visual language collectors have long associated with Slim Aarons while offering fresh perspectives for both seasoned and first-time buyers alike.
As interest in estate-stamped photography continues to grow, these releases provide an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire newly available works directly tied to the Getty Images archive. Each print carries not only the aesthetic signature of Slim Aarons, but also the enduring cultural allure of the world he documented — a world of travel, leisure, beauty, and aspiration captured with effortless precision.
